The day I met the last Emperor

Mixed Martial Arts Royalty recently breeze into Dubai, and I feel very blessed to have the unique opportunity to go along to the Russian Consulate to meet Fedor Emelianenko, considered by many analysts, fighters, and experts to be the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.

When you take into consideration that he remained undefeated for almost a decade, It is hard to make a case against him.

When you take a closer look at his record he beat the best of the best including notable wins over 5 former UFC champions and 5 former K-1 champions.

Fedor was in Dubai to give a very rare seminar at Glory MMA Fitness and shared some great knowledge, like how to turn disadvantage into advantage if you pay attention to your opponent's center of gravity at all times, easy now to see how he was able to manhandle the top heavyweights in the world.

Emelianenko’s visit is a huge boost to the ever-growing MMA scene in the region, and I would like to say a massive "THANK YOU" to Tam Khan, who is not only the owner and head coach of Glory MMA Centre, but also has to be credited as the true pioneer for Mixed Martail Arts in the region.

Another Great Year for Martial Arts

Well yesterday at 4:30pm we held our last class of the year for the martial arts academy in Dubai Sports City, However just before we head off to the festive break I would just like to take a moment to look back on what has been a great year for all martial arts in the region.

Congratulations to Pro MMA Fighter Tam Khan (Pictured Above) on his successful opening of his CONTENDER MMA CENTER on SZR,

Tam is a great guy and I can absolutely recommend him to anyone who wants to learn MMA.

Please, please don’t miss UFC & MMA Legend Royce Gracie Seminar at Contender MMA Center January 8th 2011 - I was lucky enough to have the opportunity last time Tam invited him over to Dubai to train with a true MMA legend, don’t miss your chance to do the same - for more information log onto www.contendermma.com

While on the subject of UFC I can tell you that UFC president Dana White has revealed that plans are well underway within the UFC for a return trip to Abu Dhabi on March 19, with the targeted main event pitting light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua against Rashad Evans, I can also report that The Hunnington Beach Bad Boy Tito Ortiz (Pictured Right) is strongly rumoured to be on the card.

I just want to sign off 2010 with the names of our academy students who have worked so hard this year and earned their place in our "Hall of Fame"
