Jiu Jitsu

Jiu Jitsu is a Japanese expression meaning ‘compliant art’

Why compliant?

The classical Jiu Jitsu techniques all show how to use the opponent’s size, strength, weight against them. The opponents push, but instead of pushing back you go along with – comply with – the opponent and pull towards you.

Using force in this way means not having to rely on superior strength to win.

Another way to look at it is learn how to work smart, not hard.

Look closely at what you are being taught, don’t be content merely to copy, and understand the concept as well because knowledge allows you to develop your practise.
